Honestly, this is the kind of performative mourning that makes me sick. They only start caring when someone dies. Where were they when he was alive fighting for actual change? The NBA probably didn't even give him a raise. Now they're putting out press releases like he was some saint. Pathetic.

you know... it's funny how people only become 'icons' after they're gone. like the universe needs a tragic ending to validate a life's work. i think adesina understood this. he didn't fight for legacy. he fought because silence was complicity. and maybe that's the deepest philosophy of all: action without applause.

In Nigeria people always talk big about human rights but when it comes to actual implementation they disappear. Ogunlana was one of the few who actually showed up. Most lawyers just want cases that pay well. He took on the Land Use Charge when no one else would. That's rare. And now he's gone. Who will do it next

The #EndSARS involvement was performative. The Lagos government didn't even respond. All that activism led to what? A dead lawyer and no policy change. He wasted his life on a movement that achieved nothing.

I don't get why we're celebrating a foreign activist like he's some hero. Nigeria has its own problems. Why is the American media even paying attention? This isn't a global story. It's a local failure. He died doing something that didn't matter to the rest of the world.

The institutional response to Ogunlana's death is inadequate. Tributes are ceremonial. The NBA must institutionalize his advocacy by creating a legal aid fund in his name and mandating annual human rights training for all members. Otherwise this is just grief theater.
